The strength of a good photograph in content terms is measured in how many words it needs to explain the image.
So, the fewer the better.
The ability to capture a story in an image is a skill that most of us with smartphones think we have but, in reality, it’s the preserve of the professionals.
Striking images from the photographers I work with will be a regular feature on my blog so that I can illustrate how content can be captured through the camera lens. The image here was taken by Jack Boskett and his brief was to capture the golden age of steam. By waiting until nightfall he was able to make sure that your eye is immediately drawn to the steam and he beautifully captures the atmosphere of train travel at its height of desirability.
